About Marvin's

Marvin's Magic Shoppe is the culmination of a vision that began over sixty years ago. When Marvin Silver was a young boy, he dreamed of magic. His family ran a small neighborhood shop, and couldn't afford to give him much, but they encouraged his natural curiosity and imagination by sending him to the public library. There, he read everything he could find about magic and illusion. He was fascinated by the tricks themselves, but was even more inspired by the wonder on the faces in the audience.

As he got older, Marvin saved his allowance for cheap card tricks and disappearing dice. He practiced every evening in his room. At family gatherings, he would amaze his relatives with his effortless slight of hand. After many successful family shows, his father encouraged him to hold free public performances in their garage, to the delight of his neighborhood.

Unbeknownst to him, a scout from the National Magician's Guild was in the audience one evening, and noticed Marvin's love for magic, as well as the rapport he had with his audience. "This could be the next great magician," he thought. After the show, he introduced himself to Marvin and his family, and said that the Guild would like to offer Marvin a full scholarship to the university of his choice - - to develop his potential.

Marvin and his family were thrilled, and the next year, Marvin left his neighborhood for the hallowed halls of university. There, he studied business while continuing to stage magic shows in the university theater. His dream was to eventually create a shop that would allow him to share his love for magic and illusion with the rest of the world, and to encourage future generations to become magicians.

His dream was realized when he established Marvin's Magic Shoppe in Funplace, USA. The shop became the favorite destination for children of all ages to come and experience the wonder of magic. It continues to thrive today, as people who came there as kids are now bring their own families. Marvin and his family still live in Funplace today, although he has since retired from the shop floor. He visits his shop at least once a day, and gives free magic workshops every week. If you ask him nicely, he may just make a quarter appear from behind your ear.
